First Day

Today was our first official day back to (home) school. It was pretty anticlimactic. We started later in the year then I had planned due to circumstances out of my control. I wanted to make a special breakfast to celebrate the start of a new year, but that didn't happen. We started an hour later then I wanted because, that's just life sometimes. The morning was hard and involved a few tears. There is no perfect to paint here, and I am exhausted right now. Homeschooling can be tough stuff. Sometimes the hard can outbalance what feels good an any given day, no matter how you try to put a positive spin on it.

HOWEVER!  :)

I still have a choice about my attitude and how I view life. I know from experience that perspective is key. The first week back is always hard. This year I am learning how to juggle 4 different grades (plus a preschooler). Things worthwhile aren't supposed to be easy, and this, this full time job is definitely worthwhile! Even in the hard, I am so very thankful that I have the privilege to teach all these precious gifts. And at the end of the school day there was a moment where everyone was laughing and playing nice together, Anna leaned over and said to me, "I love being homeschooled."

Deep breath.

There ARE good moments too. Thank you God! And I'm thankful tomorrow is a new day...with no mistakes in it.
