Back to School

(I just realized that I never hit publish on this post. This is from August)

The kids started back to school at the end of August. We were all feeling ready for the summer to be over so that we could start into our new fall routine. It has been a hard but good adjustment.

We were really blessed this year when God opened up the door and provided for Anna and Ryan to attend a local Christian school. They are really flourishing there.  Ryan, who I struggled with  through homeschool last year is doing so well at the Christian school.  I can't tell you how thankful I am.

I am still homeschooling James and Claire this year. We went back and forth on what grade to consider James.  We did kindergarten with him last year so technically he could be in first this year. But after much prayer we decided to do another year of kindergarten.  We started Ryan in Kindergarten when he was 6 and it was one of the best decisions we have made.  And while James is certainly smart enough for 1st grade we just felt as though he would benefit as well from starting a little later.  I want my boys to love school not struggle though it.

We chose My Father's World 1st grade curriculum for James this year. We did the Kindergarten curriculum last year and loved it.  This year is proving to be just as good.  Claire is doing some of the work as well. Although she is not able to write and do paperwork like James, she can read very well.

(please excuse the poor quality of these pictures.  I don't know what is wrong with Blogger.  When I uploaded these they looked terrible, but I don't have time to try and upload them again.)

Had to get a picture of Katie as well.
This year I decided I wanted a more official school room.  One afternoon I told Bill I wanted to look for school desks for James and Claire.  I decided to run to Goodwill that afternoon. I could not believe it when I found 2 matching desks for $3.99 each, and they were in great condition.  I love how God even cares about the little things and that He provided these for me.

I took a few pictures of the desks outside just so you could see the color of them.  I just LOVE the color.

We have had our challenges but so far I am really enjoying this school year.
