You know your head is elsewhere when...

The other day I went to pick Bill up at work.  When I pulled into the parking lot I saw him walking out of the building. Instead of pulling into a parking spot I just stopped the car where I was (in the middle of the parking lot) because he was jogging over.  I quickly unbuckled and jumped into the passenger seat as he approached the car door.

I was busy getting settled into my seat but noticed that as Bill opened the drivers side door he had a strange expression on his face.  He remarked, "you expect me to get in here like this?"  I was puzzled but then realized he must be talking about the fact that I didn't move the seat back for him.  I felt bad because I know his legs are long and it would be difficult for him to get in (little did I know just HOW difficult) I glanced over at him and notice a bit of a struggle for him to get in the car. Also, I wondered why it seemed like the car was moving backwards while he was trying to get in.

Suddenly it hit me.

Bill was trying to jump into our van and it WAS rolling backwards.

I never put the car in park (like I thought I did) when I jumpped over to the passenger's side.  Now Bill's comment made sense.  He wasn't wondering why I hadn't moved the seat back, he was wondering why I was making him jump into a moving vehicle.

Oh my word!

I have had a lot on my mind lately, but I mean come on!  Believe me when I say that I have done some air-headed things in my life, but I'm pretty sure this one takes the cake.  LOL

I think I've really lost it.

Bill and I laughed about it the whole way home.  I still laugh about it when I think about how ridiculous it was.   (and thankfully no one was behind us when it happened).

You know the saying, Don't drink and drive?  I think for me it should say, "Don't THINK and drive".

:)
