Waiting

Sometimes she tiptoes downstairs late at night, long after she should be asleep, and whispers, "Is Christmas tomorrow?"

Every morning is met with anticipation. Is today the day?

Her excitement is contagious, and joy infectious. She waits expectantly. Because time is a concept yet to be grasped in her young mind, Christmas could be here at any moment.

Maybe tomorrow, maybe today.

I know these words well in my own life.

Maybe today something will happen.

Maybe today the answers will come.

Maybe today the Lord will show up.

Maybe today...

This waiting room, a familiar place the Lord has beckoned me to sit and rest in.

It's not so much of an impatient (though certainly at times), but more of an, I wonder when He will make Himself known? A souls longing yet to be fulfilled.

It's not always an easy place to be in... this waiting can seem so long. But there is hope, always hope, even in the quiet stillness of night.

“If we but saw our God in His love, if we but believed that He waits to be gracious, that He waits to be our life and to work all in us, – how this waiting on God would become our highest joy, the natural and spontaneous response of our hearts to His great love and glory!”- Andrew Murray

Yes, with hope and joy!

Come Lord Jesus. We eagerly await you.

Maybe today...
