I want to write, but I feel like I have nothing to say.
For awhile things were on the fast track, the crazy train, moving at lightning speed. Then it stopped. Plans changed, timelines moved. Life eased back to the ebb and flow.
Life right now is quite, a series of daily happenings. I actually prefer the quiet, simple way of life, so this is no cause for complaint. I am in fact, thankful for the extra time to enjoy this pace, and the people we love dearly. However, it was an unexpected slow, a halt more like, so life has felt a bit anticlimactic.
Maybe I can't write because I am waiting, waiting for something to happen, a change, a lesson, an epiphany, something of great importance.
Sometimes it seems like there are no words because, well, the only things worth writing about are the monumental ones. But do I really believe that? Or have a I simply forgotten that life is mostly made up of mundane, with a few big moments thrown in? There is a story in the big, and in the small.
I close my eyes to see with my ears, because sometimes they give fresh prespective. I hear. Whirring of the dishwasher. The ever present, gentle tick-tock of the living room clock. A car passing by on wet roads, it's snowing. Little girl voices, whispering from beds, late into the night. Music drifting from the office. The heat kicks back on. It's cold. A train whistle. tick-tock, tick-tock...
Maybe I just need new eyes to see, and ears to really press in to hear. The words are there. I just need to find them...
